Strawberries: The next superfood?

Spring is here and so are strawberries! Find out why they are good for our health and of all the benefits of our favorite red berry!

– Rich in water and fiber, low in sugar and calories and full of micronutrients

– Contain more vitamin C than oranges, as well as a large amount of vitamin B9 (which contributes to normal blood function and is involved in the mechanisms of cell division and growth, hence its benefits during pregnancy)

– Great source of manganese, calcium and magnesium which contribute to our mineral needs.

– Packed with antioxidants in the form of anthocyanins and ellagic acid, known for their health benefits (it can reduce chances of colon, esophagus, breast and brain cancer in some individuals).

– One of the lowest calorie fruits (only 38 calories per 100g).

In short, if you are a fan of strawberries, (health and diet permitting) you can go ahead and eat as many as you’d like!
